Key2Africa unlock the door to adventure

On Saturday evening Joshua Trustee's Marjorie, David and UK coordinator Jess attended Key2Africa’s Mike and James’ leaving celebrations. On Sunday morning the two guys left Bristol to embark on their incredible adventure; driving all the way from Bristol to Malawi in their land rover (tried and tested by David) to raise money for Joshua.

The evening was packed full of games, speeches, raffles and fond farewells as the two made their final preparations for departure.

We wish Mike and James the very best of luck for their journey, we will be following their blog the whole way and cannot wait to hear all about their adventures on return. We would also like to thank them for their exceptional support of Joshua. What an amazing and inspirational pair.

We Kicked of Christmas Early

On the 30^th of November Joshua kicked off Christmas early with its fun-filled Christmas party. With music playing and wine flowing it was a fab opportunity for some off our supporters to catch up with old friends, meet new ones and share exciting tales of their travels to Malawi. 

Christmas gifts were bought and prizes were won making £657.50 for Joshua in the process. This money will be used in the communities where it is needed most and will go a long way to making Christmas that little bit more special in the villages we work in. 

In the midst of all the excitement we had speeches from Sylvia and our chairpersons Marjorie and David who thanked everyone for their hard work and support throughout the year. 

We also had a very special speech from the amazing Mike and James from key2africa who will be driving from the UK, through 20 countries to Cape Town next year to raise money for Joshua. 

All in all it was a fantastic evening and the perfect way to end the year and start the festive season. Thank you to all our staff and supporters for making it another great year for Joshua, we wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy new year : )

Key2Africa are a hit at Land Rover shows

Last weekend we had a local Land Rover show at the Bath and West Show Ground. In the build-up to the show we had the usual running around to do. Unfortunately we also had our very first problem with the truck, no power, however a trip to Bristol Batteries by Nick Cox on his way home from work and a purchase of two new batteries solved our problem.

After a short commute we arrived to a sunny show ground. We quickly set about spreading our stand out, unlike Eastnor a few weeks earlier the weather allowed us to escape the shelter of the awning  but as always we had plenty of interest from people attending the show. These shows allows us to meet some really interesting people who have lots of useful hints and tips for preparing the truck as well as whilst we are on the trip and kept us entertained with stories of their travels.


On the Saturday, having just driven one of the Camel Trophy vehicles around the arena for the Camel Trophy Owners Club, the organisers had a 10 minute slot to fill in the arena. So off the cuff James entered the arena to speak to the announcer about the Key2Africa project and with a crowd around the arena we had a great opportunity to connect with a large audience and get more people who might have passed us by to come and speak to us on our stand.

Next on the ever growing Key2Africa to do list is to get the interior of the truck sorted, the first task is to get a bulk head to separate the cab from the rest of the truck. B.S Commercials based in Bristol will be fitting said bulkhead at their earliest convenience. Then the task of making the truck as easy and comfortable to live out of for a sustained period of time. So any suggestions for the interior will be gladly welcomed.

Key2Africa will next be appearing at the Bath Pageant of Motoring, the first weekend of July (5th and 6th). Come by for a chat and a brew and the possibility of cake.
